Privacy Policy
Second Sight Systems, LLC
Effective Date: Aug 7, 2026
Second Sight Systems, LLC (“Second Sight,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information through our website at secondsightsystems.com (the “Site”), our resident and property manager billing portals, and the metering, submetering, telecommunications, and technical field services we provide (together, the “Services”). By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with the practices described here, please do not use the Services.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Policy covers information that Second Sight collects and controls, including information from Site visitors, business contacts, property owners and managers, residents and tenants we bill directly, vendors, and job applicants.
Information we handle for our Clients. We often perform work under contract to utilities, municipalities, meter vendors, government agencies, property owners, and property managers (our “Clients”). When we do, we process information about their customers and residents at their direction and on their behalf. In those cases the Client—not Second Sight—determines how that information is used, and the Client’s own privacy policy governs it; depending on applicable law we act as a service provider, processor, or contractor. We use that information only to perform the contracted work and to comply with law. We do not sell it and we do not use it for our own marketing. If you are a utility customer or resident with questions, please contact your utility provider, property owner, or property manager. You may also contact us and we will assist you or forward your request.
This Policy does not cover third-party websites, our Clients’ own practices, or the personal information of our employees and contractors, which is addressed in a separate internal notice.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide. Contact and business details such as name, company, title, address, email, and telephone number when you request a quote, contact us, or subscribe to updates; property and service addresses, site details, and equipment specifications needed to quote or perform work; portal usernames and passwords; account and billing records including account number, meter identifiers, consumption and meter reading data, statements, and payment history; payment card and bank account details, which are collected and processed by our payment processors and billing platform providers—we do not store full card numbers on our own systems; job applicant materials including resumes, employment and education history, licenses and certifications, references, and, for safety-sensitive roles where permitted by law, background, motor vehicle, and drug screening results; and the contents of your correspondence with us, including telephone calls that may be recorded or monitored for quality assurance and training where permitted by law.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site we collect your IP address and the approximate location derived from it, device and browser details, referring and exit pages, pages viewed and links clicked, dates and times of visits, and log data. We use this information to understand how the Site is used and to improve it, and, as described in Section 4, to identify the organizations and, for visitors located in the United States, the individuals who visit us.
Information from other sources. Our Clients provide customer, resident, and premises information so we can schedule and perform work. Installed meters, endpoints, transceivers, and network devices transmit readings, device identifiers, status, and alarm conditions such as leak, tamper, temperature, power loss, and unusual consumption. We also receive information from service providers such as billing platforms, payment processors, and screening vendors, and from public records and business data providers.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver the Services, including scheduling, coordinating premises access, and completing field work
- Prepare quotes and respond to inquiries, service requests, and billing disputes
- Establish and manage accounts and portal profiles
- Collect readings, calculate charges, issue statements, process payments, and manage collections
- Monitor system performance and issue leak, tamper, power loss, and unusual consumption alerts
- Communicate about appointments, service announcements, project updates, and account matters
- Send marketing communications consistent with your preferences and applicable law
- Evaluate applications for employment
- Conduct internal analytics and research, and support safety, quality assurance, and training programs
- Detect and prevent fraud and secure our systems, facilities, and personnel
- Comply with legal and contractual obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements
We process personal information only where we have a lawful basis to do so: performance of a contract, our legitimate business interests, compliance with a legal obligation, or your consent. Where we rely on consent, we make that clear at the time of collection and you may withdraw it at any time.
4. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
A cookie is a small file that a website stores on your device and that your browser returns on later visits. We use cookies that are strictly necessary for the Site and portals to function, that remember your preferences, that help us measure performance, and that support advertising. You may refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings, although some features may not work and you may need to re-enter log-in information more frequently. We do not control the use of cookies by third parties.
We use third-party analytics, including Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics collects the IP address assigned to you but not your name, and we do not combine it with directly identifying information. More information is available at google.com/policies/privacy/partners, and you may opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Visitor identification. We use a third-party visitor identification service on our Site. This service sets first-party cookies and uses your IP address and device information to match your visit against third-party databases. For visitors it determines to be located in the United States, this may identify you individually—including your name, business email address, employer, and professional profile—even if you never complete a form or otherwise give us your details. For visitors located outside the United States, identification is limited to the organization level. We use this information to understand who is interested in our services and to inform our sales and marketing outreach.
When you visit or log in to our website, cookies and similar technologies may be used by our online data partners or vendors to associate these activities with other personal information they or others have about you, including by association with your email. We (or service providers on our behalf) may then send communications and marketing to these email addresses. You may opt out of receiving this advertising by visiting app.retention.com/optout. You may also ask us to stop processing information about your visits in this way by contacting us using the details in Section 10, or by exercising the opt-out rights described in Section 5.
We may also participate in advertising networks that use cookies and similar technologies to show you our advertisements on other websites and to measure their effectiveness. Our Site does not currently respond to browser “do not track” signals. To opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies, visit aboutads.info/choices or networkadvertising.org/choices.
5. How We Share Information
We share personal information with:
- Service providers who work on our behalf, including billing platform and meter data management providers, payment processors, fraud prevention vendors, analytics, visitor identification, and advertising providers, hosting and telecommunications providers, subcontractors and contract field personnel, background screening vendors, and professional advisors
- Our Clients and the property owners or managers on whose behalf work is performed, to report completed work, readings, exceptions, and account status
- Parties you authorize to receive information on your behalf
- Government authorities and others when we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, enforce our agreements, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Second Sight, our Clients, our personnel, or the public
- Affiliates and acquirers in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, in which case your information may be among the assets transferred
We do not exchange personal information for money, and we do not sell or share information we process on behalf of our Clients. However, the visitor identification technology described in Section 4, together with certain advertising and analytics cookies, may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, or “targeted advertising,” under California and other state privacy laws. You may opt out at any time through the opt-out link in Section 4, your browser cookie controls, the industry tools listed above, an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control where we are required to honor it, or by contacting us. We do not knowingly sell or share information about anyone under 16.
6. Retention and Security
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer period is required by law. Account, billing, and payment records are retained through the account relationship and afterward as required by tax, accounting, and utility regulatory rules; work order, inspection, and safety records as our contracts and applicable regulations require; marketing contact information until you unsubscribe; applicant records for the period required by employment law; and Site log data for a limited period. Information we hold on behalf of a Client is retained and deleted according to that Client’s instructions.
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including TLS/SSL encryption of information in transit, role-based access limited to personnel who need the information to do their jobs, confidentiality obligations for our staff and subcontractors, and regular privacy and security training. Because we work on and around critical utility infrastructure, we also require background screening, credentialing, and identification for field personnel who access customer premises. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed or disclosed in ways not described here. Please keep your portal credentials confidential and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
7. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
You may unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the link in the message or by contacting us; we may still send transactional messages such as statements, appointment notices, and service alerts. You may manage cookies through your browser, and review or update your account details by logging in to your portal or contacting customer service. You may also ask us about the information we hold about you, or request access, correction, deletion, or a portable copy. We honor these requests as required by applicable law and will respond either way. If your request concerns information we hold for a Client, we will forward it to that Client or direct you to them.
Residents of California and of other states with comprehensive privacy laws—including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and Delaware—have additional rights. These may include the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of it, to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, sharing, and certain profiling, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. The categories of information we collect, the purposes for which we use it, and the parties with whom we share it are described in Sections 2, 3, and 5.
To exercise a right, email info@sssrf.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line, or call 844-789-9111. We must verify your identity before responding and may ask for additional information for that purpose. An authorized agent may submit a request with written proof of authorization.
8. Children, Third-Party Sites, and U.S. Processing
Our Services are directed to businesses, property managers, utility professionals, and adult account holders. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and we will delete it promptly if we learn we have. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us information, please contact us.
Our Site and communications link to third-party sites and platforms, including our billing portals and our Clients’ websites, which operate under their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content or practices.
Second Sight is based in the United States and our Services are directed to users in the United States. Information we collect is stored and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post changes on this page and revise the “Effective Date” above, and will provide additional notice where required for material changes. Your continued use of the Services after that date constitutes acknowledgment of the revised Policy.
